Before installation
Discuss the site assessment, roof layout, equipment locations and switchboard condition. Your proposal should set out included work, access needs, approvals and any separate charges. Ask how variations are agreed before extra work proceeds.
What to discuss at handover
- Commissioning and the relevant electrical safety and inspection documentation.
- System layout, equipment model and serial details, manuals and warranty information.
- Monitoring access and a demonstration of what the app shows.
- Backup circuits and operating limits, if backup is included.
- Shutdown instructions and a clear support contact.
Confirm the documentation and any pending network or metering steps for your installation. Keep digital copies with your final invoice.
Three warranties to understand
| Warranty | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Product | What defects are covered, for how long, and under which conditions? |
| Panel performance | What degradation is warranted, and how is a claim assessed? |
| Workmanship | What installation work is covered and who handles a claim? |
Battery terms can also include throughput, cycles and retained capacity. Ask about labour, freight and other claim costs. Written warranties sit alongside Australian Consumer Law rights; a long headline period does not explain all the coverage.
Get warranty terms in writing
Manufacturer product warranties, installation workmanship and your rights under Australian Consumer Law are not the same thing. Before booking, request the written workmanship warranty duration, what work it covers, the fault-reporting process and any excluded costs. Product and workmanship coverage should be specified in your actual proposal, rather than assumed from a marketing headline.
For aftercare, confirm who handles monitoring setup, commissioning questions and warranty-related faults, and ask for the support contact. No fixed service response time is promised on this website.
Make monitoring useful
Ask whether the proposed system shows solar generation only or also household consumption and grid flows. At handover, confirm your account access and connectivity. Keep an eye on changes in performance and contact the installer if something looks unusual.
If you need help
Call Unified Solar on 0428 280 294 with the equipment model, any displayed error and when the issue began. Do not open electrical enclosures or try to repair equipment yourself. Warranty coverage and any service charges depend on the fault and applicable terms.
