Understand the main approaches
| Approach | What to discuss |
|---|---|
| String inverter | Panel strings, roof directions, shading and the design of the inputs. |
| Microinverters | Panel-level conversion, layout flexibility, monitoring and installed cost. |
| Hybrid inverter | The exact supported battery combinations, activation needs and backup equipment. |
| Storage retrofit | How the new battery connects to existing solar, and any impact on monitoring and outage operation. |
Neither a hybrid label nor “battery-ready” guarantees every battery or backup feature. Ask for compatibility against the exact model and configuration.
Single phase, three phase and exports
Your supply arrangement and network connection requirements affect the design. Ask how solar, storage and backup are distributed across phases, and what export limit applies. Installation capacity and export allowance are different questions.
Keep, expand or replace?
For an existing system, gather the inverter model, system age, panel details and monitoring data. Compare the condition and limits of what you have with the work required to upgrade it. Request a clear explanation of what is retained and what changes.
Start with our core platforms
Our main choices are the Sigenergy energy controller and SigenStor platform, followed by GoodWe ESA hybrid inverters and batteries. We match the supply phase, roof design and planned storage before choosing a model.
Make future plans specific
If a battery or EV is planned later, ask which compatible models and accessories would be needed, whether expansion has limits and which future work is excluded from today’s price.
Let’s apply this to your home.
